Com2uS recorded a loss again in the third quarter.
Com2uS announced on the 8th that it posted consolidated sales of 186.7 billion KRW, an operating loss of 1.6 billion KRW, and a net profit of 9.6 billion KRW in the third quarter. Although the operating loss continued for four consecutive quarters since the fourth quarter of last year, the deficit margin has decreased.
Overseas sales in the gaming business amounted to 101.4 billion KRW, accounting for 70.9% of the total gaming business revenue. This represents a 19.2% increase compared to the same period last year, achieving balanced results across North America, Asia, Europe, and other regions worldwide.
Com2uS explained that the deficit margin has been steadily decreasing due to the growth of the gaming business and efficient management of marketing expenses. The flagship game, Summoners War: Sky Arena, maintains long-term popularity through a large-scale update and the effect of eSports, and the addition of MLB 9 Innings Rivals, which began global service in July, has increased sales in the sports genre.
Com2uS is also actively promoting its publishing business to expand its major game pipeline. Recently, the large-scale MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) The Starlight, developed by GameTales, has finalized its service name, and the global service contract for the bishoujo character collection and nurturing RPG Starseed: Asunia Trigger was announced, with a domestic release scheduled for the first quarter of next year. Additionally, Com2uS signed a global publishing contract for Frostpunk: Beyond the Ice, a survival simulation mobile game based on a popular PC game, with China's NetEase, continuously securing a competitive new lineup.
In the media content business, Com2uS plans to showcase various anticipated works including the tvN drama Maestra scheduled to air in December, the Disney+ original series Killer’s Shopping Mall, and the 2024 film Finding the King. The company also aims to strengthen its fandom business in the K-content market by expanding its artist lineup and hosting large-scale K-pop concerts.
A Com2uS representative stated, “We are showing continuous growth in the gaming business sector through stable service of existing flagship games and the addition of releases in various genres,” adding, “We will do our best to expand performance in new business areas such as media content and enhance the competitiveness of our content in the global market.”
