Guro-gu Strengthens Hygiene Management for Bedbug Prevention

Hygiene Inspection of 130 Bathhouse and Accommodation Businesses Until the 30th

Guro-gu Strengthens Hygiene Management for Bedbug Prevention

Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) will conduct hygiene inspections of bathhouses and lodging facilities until the 30th to prevent damage to residents caused by bedbugs.

This hygiene inspection will focus on public hygiene establishments such as jjimjilbangs and bathhouses, where bedbugs have recently been found in other regions.

A total of 130 locations, including 108 lodging facilities and 22 bathhouses, are subject to inspection. Inspection teams consisting of two people?an honorary public hygiene monitor and a public official?will carry out the inspections.

The inspection schedule, originally set to end on November 17, has been extended to the 30th due to concerns that bedbugs may spread nationwide.

The inspection teams will visit these establishments to directly check ▲ compliance with facility and equipment standards by industry ▲ cleanliness within the business premises ▲ proper ventilation within the business premises ▲ and compliance with other requirements that business operators must follow.

Based on the inspection results, establishments with inadequate hygiene conditions such as cleanliness will be subject to on-site corrective measures followed by additional follow-up inspections.

During the hygiene inspections, promotional activities will also be conducted, including sharing recent nationwide bedbug occurrence cases with business owners and providing information on bedbug prevention and response published by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.

Prevention guidelines have also been posted on the district office website and social networking services (SNS) so that residents can easily check how to respond to bedbugs.

A Guro-gu official stated, “We will conduct thorough inspections so that residents can use public hygiene facilities with peace of mind,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to protect the health of our residents.”
