"Feel the Farmer's Sweat" Ulleung-gun, Children's Farmer School Experience Classroom

On the 4th, Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk, held a Children's Farmer School in the vegetable garden within the Agricultural Technology Center's native plant garden.

Twelve elementary school children and their parents participated in the event, engaging in various hands-on learning experiences such as harvesting agricultural products.

They learned how to harvest peanuts and about their growth process, and spent time making natural kitchen scrubbing items using fibers extracted from loofah fruits.

A tteokbokki tasting and evaluation event was also held, where participants directly assessed the taste and texture of tteokbokki made from rice harvested through Ulleungdo rice farming, which was revived after more than 40 years.

One child who participated in the event said, “It was a precious time to realize that the agricultural products on our table are the fruits of the sweat shed by farmers who live protecting rural areas.”

Nam Han-kwon, the county governor, stated, “We will develop various programs so that children, who are our future, can grow up bright and healthy.”
