Shilla Duty Free announced on the 7th that it took part in the 2023 Taipei International Travel Fair (ITF), held from the 3rd to the 6th at the Nangang Exhibition Center in Taipei, Taiwan, conducting promotions to attract Taiwanese tourists to visit Korea.

The Taipei International Travel Fair is the largest international travel exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region, hosted by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau. This year’s fair featured participation from 104 countries and regions, with over 1,300 booths set up.

Under the theme "2023-2024 Visit Korea Year," 18 organizations and companies including the Seoul Tourism Foundation participated from Korea, operating the Korea Pavilion with 65 booths. Shilla Duty Free participated in the Korea Pavilion, operating a standalone booth and conducting various events.

Visitors to the Shilla Duty Free booth received Shilla Duty Free leaflets and Shilla Friends character fans. Customers who signed up as Shilla Duty Free members and followed their social media accounts were given Shilla Friends acrylic keyrings. A roulette prize event was also held, offering prizes such as 50,000 KRW prepaid card vouchers and eco bags.

According to data released by the Korea Tourism Organization in August, Taiwan ranks third in the number of tourists visiting Korea, following Japan and China, making it an important tourism market. The number of Taiwanese tourists visiting Korea increased by nearly 22% compared to the same period last year, showing the fastest recovery since COVID-19.

In line with this trend, Shilla Duty Free signed a marketing business agreement with Line Pay Taiwan on the 1st and plans to continue expanding partnerships with major Taiwanese companies.

Kim Tae-ho, head of Shilla Duty Free division, said, "I was surprised by the high enthusiasm and interest of Taiwanese people in visiting Korea at the site," adding, "We will continue to strengthen marketing activities to attract tourists from Southeast Asia including Taiwan and contribute not only to the duty-free industry but also to the development of the domestic tourism industry."
