Prosecution Arrests and Indicts Man in His 40s for Leaving a Weapon in Front of Minister Han Dong-hoon's House

The prosecution indicted Hong Mo (42) on the 6th, who is accused of leaving a weapon in front of the residence of Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon.


On the same day, the Criminal Division 3 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Jo Seok-gyu) announced that Hong was indicted on charges including special intimidation and violation of the Stalking Crime Punishment Act.

Hong is accused of leaving a weapon and an ignition torch in front of the apartment door of Minister Han, located in Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, around 3 a.m. on the 11th of last month. It was confirmed that Hong visited the vicinity of Minister Han's residence several times besides the day of the incident.


Three days after the incident, on the 14th, Hong was arrested by the police at his home in Gangdong-gu, Seoul. The police sent him to detention on the 20th of last month.


Meanwhile, during the investigation, he repeatedly expressed hostility toward Minister Han. It was found that he was delusional, believing he was under continuous surveillance and control by Minister Han. He showed antagonism by posting numerous critical comments about Minister Han on the internet, and as his delusions worsened, he committed the crime.
