Gwangju Nam-gu to Host Nam-gu Residents' Book Festival Starting from the 11th

On the 6th, Nam-gu announced, "The 10th Nam-gu Residents' Book Festival, a book-themed event that anyone can enjoy, will be held from 10 a.m. on the 11th at Yuan Neighborhood Park in Bongseon-dong."

This year's Book Festival theme is 'Book Masil, Creating Happiness,' and various book-related programs can be found around the festival site.

The main event will run for six hours, starting with a pre-event cultural performance featuring talent donations from children at local daycare centers. The children will perform for about 30 minutes on the main stage, showcasing samulnori (traditional Korean percussion), oratory, and taekwondo dance.

Following the pre-event, the opening ceremony will take place. Awards will be presented to distinguished readers, the family who read the most books, and winners of last month's 'Traveling Through Books' contest.

Additionally, nine types of programs, including experience booths, puppet shows, and exhibitions, will be offered around the main stage.

First, a total of 18 reading culture experience booths will be set up. Participants include the Korea Reading Book Art Association, local bookstores, small libraries and public libraries in the district, the Private Daycare Center Association, Mirine Reading Research Group, Nam-gu Family Center, and Youth Career Experience Center, showcasing everything related to books.

There will also be meetings with authors and book talks.

In the 'Author's Room' corner, An Jeom-ok, author of this year's selected book "YouTube Follows Closely," and Lee Hyun, author of "Dori's Dream," will engage in conversations with local elementary school students. Park Joo-jung, principal of Jeonnam Middle School and an active author, will talk about the role of parents in their children's school life.

Puppet shows, magic shows, and exhibitions that enliven the Book Festival are also highlights.

The puppet shows, "Stop the Pie Thief" and "Toobi Mega Power," are open to all audiences, and in the afternoon, balloon magic shows and bubble magic shows will be held consecutively on the main stage.

In addition, visitors can enjoy original artwork exhibitions, urban sketch exhibitions capturing various scenes of Yangnim-dong, and reading rest areas.

A Nam-gu official said, "We hope everyone participates in the reading culture experience and enjoys a pleasant time with their families and local residents."
