Shooting Youth National Team's 2nd Training Camp Held for 10 Days in Pohang

Hosting Training Camps Since 2019, Providing Vehicle Support and Training Environment

The youth shooting national team is conducting the second training camp of 2023 at the Pohang Indoor Shooting Range from the 3rd to the 12th, lasting 10 days.

This training camp is hosted by the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee and organized by the Korea Shooting Federation, with financial support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation. It is a program aimed at early identification and continuous management of promising young athletes to nurture them as future national team members and candidate athletes.


During the training, professional coaches provide systematic and intensive guidance on skills training necessary for performance improvement, mental concentration training, physical fitness training, and human rights education.


The ‘Youth Shooting Training Camp’ is overseen by head coach Kim Gyeongjae (Myongji University), and consists of five professional coaches?Yu Soyoung (Seosan Girls' Middle School), Kim Dongyoung (Hankwang Middle School), Lee Seungyeon (Maechun Middle School), An Hyeongsu (Seoul Physical Education Middle School), Lee Byeongjin (Wonju Daeseong Middle School)?all recipients of the Korea Shooting Federation’s Excellent Coach Award, one medical trainer, and 44 selected student athletes from 3rd year middle school to 1st year high school, chosen based on the combined records of the top two finals in national competitions held in the first half of this year.


Since 2019, Pohang City has actively supported the youth national team and national team candidate athletes’ training camps by providing vehicle support and a comfortable training environment so that athletes can focus solely on their training.


Hwang Sangsik, Director of the Sports Industry Division, stated, “We will strive to build more athlete-friendly infrastructure so that athletes visiting the Pohang Indoor Shooting Range can fully concentrate on their training,” and added, “We will continue to attract various training camps to help revitalize the local economy.”
