Solo Concert at Seoul World Cup Stadium in May Next Year
Singer Lim Young-woong will hold a solo concert next year at Seoul World Cup Stadium.
Lim Young-woong announced this on the 5th during the 2023 Lim Young-woong National Tour Concert 'I'm Hero' Seoul performance held at KSPO DOME in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul.
He will hold a solo concert for two days, May 25-26 next year, at Seoul World Cup Stadium in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. Holding a solo concert at Sangam Stadium is the second time for a solo singer, following Psy, who sparked the 'Gangnam Style' craze in 2013. In August, the 'Jamboree K-pop Concert' was held there. It is known to be larger in scale than the currently under-construction Olympic Main Stadium at Jamsil Sports Complex, which has a capacity of over 50,000 people.
Lim Young-woong has been causing a 'picketing' (pie + ticketing) craze with sold-out shows at every performance. It is agreed that entry to Sangam Stadium requires considerable real audience drawing power from the singer.
Meanwhile, Lim Young-woong, a 'soccer enthusiast,' also has a connection with Seoul World Cup Stadium, where he performed the ceremonial first kick last April. At that time, 45,000 spectators gathered, setting a new record for paid attendance. Concerned about damaging the turf, he wore soccer shoes when stepping onto the field and received applause.
During the Seoul performance, Lim Young-woong sang new songs including 'Do or Die,' as well as 'Grains of Sand,' 'Rainbow,' and 'London Boy,' eliciting cheers from the audience.
At the end of the concert, in response to fans' encore requests, a video containing the phrase "I will become a bigger universe" was shown. It was a video announcing the solo concert at Sangam Stadium. After seeing it, Lim Young-woong said, "It feels like a dream place," adding, "I was overwhelmed and felt like I might faint watching the video." He continued, "Please stay healthy and happy until that day."
The Daegu concert will be held from November 24 to 26 at EXCO East Hall in Daegu, and the Busan concert will take place from December 8 to 10 at BEXCO Exhibition Halls 1 and 2.
The Daejeon concert will be held from December 29 to 31 at Daejeon Convention Center Exhibition Hall 2, and the Gwangju concert will be held from January 5 to 7, 2024, at Kim Dae-jung Convention Center.
