Lee Su-jeong "Nam Hyun-hee, with 20 years of economic activity, couldn't have been unaware of fraud signs"

"Nam Hyun-hee's False Accusation Claim Is Inappropriate"

Former national fencing representative Nam Hyun-hee (42) is under suspicion of being an accomplice with her remarriage partner Jeon Cheong-jo (27), who was arrested on fraud charges, as experts have analyzed that "there are circumstances that could recognize Nam's implied intent."

Professor Lee Soo-jung of the Department of Criminal Psychology at Kyonggi University emphasized on June 3 on 'YTN The News' that "all financial transactions are recorded as being conducted by Nam," adding, "Therefore, it is hard to believe that a 42-year-old economically active person would not understand the implications of lending her bank account to someone else."

Professor Lee explained, "Nam Hyun-hee has been economically active for over 20 years. Her claim of innocence is inappropriate," and added, "Even if she does not have the awareness of being an accomplice to fraud, if all the money flowed in and out of her bank account and the funds can be verified, it is a situation where implied intent could be recognized."

She also analyzed that Jeon’s repeated claims of "loving Nam Hyun-hee and wanting to be loved" are self-excuses.

Professor Lee emphasized, "Love does not excuse everything," and said, "While there may be a desire to claim innocence by asserting romance, the problem is that the law is not so lenient."

Recently, Jeon admitted to embezzling approximately 1.9 billion won from at least 15 people by inducing investments from those he met through his lectures.

On the afternoon of the 3rd, the Seoul Eastern District Court issued an arrest warrant for Jeon, who is charged with fraud under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, citing concerns that he might flee and that his residence is uncertain.
