Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 3rd that the basic taxi fare will be increased from the current 4,000 won to 5,000 won starting from the 6th.
This fare increase decision follows the change decided by the Jeollanam-do Consumer Policy Committee in August and aims to improve the treatment of transportation workers and enhance service for passengers.
The county held a Price Countermeasure Committee meeting last month to determine the adjustment amount and standards.
As a result, it was decided to raise the basic fare to 5,000 won starting from the 6th.
According to the revised fare system, the basic fare for a standard taxi (2 km) will be 5,000 won, the distance fare will be adjusted from 160 won per 134 meters to 160 won per 130 meters, and the time fare (when driving at 15 km/h or below) will be adjusted from 160 won per 32 seconds to 160 won per 30 seconds.
The surcharge rates remain the same as before: a 35% surcharge applies for driving outside the business area, a 20% surcharge applies for late-night hours (from midnight to 4 a.m.), and when both late-night and outside business area surcharges apply simultaneously, the total surcharge cannot exceed 40%.
Lee Sang-ik, the county governor, said, “We expect this fare adjustment to contribute to improving taxi services and ensuring stable income for transportation workers.”
