The Startup Support Center at Sahmyook University announced on the 3rd that it held the flea market 'KongKong Market' for two days on the 31st of last month and the 1st at the Solomon Square on campus.
KongKong Market is a flea market where students independently manage everything from product planning to branding, marketing, and sales. It was first launched in September 2019 with the purpose of experiencing the entire process of entrepreneurship and has been held every semester since then.
At KongKong Market, students can sell any items they want, from self-made accessories to stationery, food, and clothing. Ji Younghwan (4th year, Department of Food and Nutrition), who has been steadily running a store focusing on desserts since 2019, said, "When I first participated in KongKong Market, I sold in small quantities because the demand was uncertain, but later responses started coming through the campus community. Since last year, I formed a team and significantly increased production volume."
Cha Eunbin (4th year, Department of Environmental Design and Horticulture), who developed the 'Plant Growing Keyring' and opened a store at KongKong Market, said, "The biggest achievement was directly facing the main consumer base and learning about product preferences, issues, and what kinds of products they additionally want," adding, "I plan to carefully analyze and consider this experience as a reference for future entrepreneurial activities."
A representative from the Sahmyook University Startup Support Center said, "Students often find entrepreneurship difficult, but we hope they can experience entrepreneurship in a friendly way through KongKong Market," and added, "Even if they do not start a business after graduation, going through the series of processes at KongKong Market can help develop various personal skills."
