Daegu Jung-gu Honored with Top Prize in 'Local Government Productivity Awards'

Jung-gu, Daegu City (Mayor Ryu Gyu-ha) received the Best Award among autonomous districts at the 13th Local Government Productivity Awards held at the Daejeon Convention Center on the 2nd.


In the productivity index measurement category, 144 out of 226 local governments nationwide applied this year. Productivity indices were measured based on 17 indicators across six areas including local government competitiveness and quality of life, selecting 16 outstanding local governments.

Jung-gu, Daegu City was the only institution in Daegu to be selected as an excellent organization, showing outstanding performance in population management, financial capacity, care and welfare, education, and culture. In particular, it received high evaluations in regional medical standards such as net migration growth rate, employment growth rate, number of doctors working in medical institutions, and number of hospital beds.


Ryu Gyu-ha, Mayor of Jung-gu, Daegu, said, "This award is a valuable achievement recognizing the restoration of the status of the old downtown Jung-gu," and added, "We will continue to do our best to realize a happy city for residents through continuous change and challenges."


Hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and organized by the Korea Productivity Center (KPC), the Local Government Productivity Awards annually measure local governments' efforts and capabilities to improve residents' quality of life and competitiveness through productivity indicators and evaluate best practices. Jung-gu has won this award three times, including the Grand Prize in 2019, the Encouragement Award in 2022, and this time.
