Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, together with the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea and the Buk-gu Community Security Council, has taken proactive measures to ensure that neighbors in need feel the warm affection of the local community and spend a healthy and warm winter.
According to Buk-gu on the 2nd, the "2023 Winter Heating Cost Support Project," which provides heating expenses and winter supplies to low-income households, will be launched starting from the 3rd.
This winter heating support is a collaborative project between Buk-gu and the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea, carried out by the Buk-gu Community Security Council, with a total budget of 67 million KRW to deliver ▲ heating costs ▲ heating supplies to 746 low-income households (within 100% of the median income).
Heating costs of 100,000 KRW per household will be provided to a total of 370 households by the 7th, and winter heating supplies such as winter blankets and heating pads worth approximately 80,000 KRW will be distributed to a total of 376 households by the 10th.
Additionally, Buk-gu plans to use an additional 57.4 million KRW from the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea’s "Buk-gu Happiness Plus" designated donations to carry out the "Love Kimchi Sharing Project" from this month through December, delivering warmth to neighbors in need of care during the winter season.
A Buk-gu official stated, "November is the month of the solar terms Ip-dong and So-seol, marking the time to prepare seriously for the upcoming winter cold. We will focus all our efforts on building a dense welfare safety net so that no one is left out this winter and all vulnerable groups are protected, as well as on preparing for natural disasters during the winter season."
