The students identified urban, architectural, and social issues contributing to human life and designed new buildings according to the nature of the problems and the purpose of architectural design.

The team of Yoo Hyun-joo, Jang Sun-young, and Kim Yoo-young, who won the Korean Institute of Architects Gwangju-Jeonnam Architects Association Award at the graduation exhibition, received praise for designing ‘Together,’ a health clinic providing primary healthcare services in medically underserved rural areas.

Also, Lee Seo-eun and Oh Seung-myung, who won the Korea Institute of Registered Architects Gwangju Metropolitan City Architects Association Award, attracted attention by designing a new healthcare and welfare center aimed at improving the health and quality of life of local residents in a super-aged society with low birth rates and increased life expectancy after the pandemic. Kim Min-jae and Byun Ki-hyun, recipients of the Chosun University of Science and Technology President’s Award, planned a youth cultural center that offers career counseling for young people contemplating their dreams and future, receiving favorable reviews.

Lee Seung-jo, head of the Department of Architecture at Chosun University of Science and Technology, said, “As the finale of the Department of Architecture is the graduation exhibition, we were able to see buildings that students sublimated into their own works based on what they learned in theory and practice all in one place,” adding, “From the students’ intense deliberation, overnight efforts, and hard work, we could see the bright future of the Department of Architecture at Chosun University of Science and Technology in both their appearances and the results.”

Meanwhile, the Department of Architecture at Chosun University of Science and Technology has a history of 58 years since 1965, with over 6,000 graduates active worldwide, making it a department with a rich history and tradition. It fosters specialized talents capable of early deployment in the fields of ‘architectural design’ and ‘architectural construction management,’ equipped with the ability to create smart buildings and build customized lifestyle platform architectural spaces for residents.

Generally, architecture departments refer to five-year universities separated from the traditional four-year architectural engineering majors, focusing on design and architectural planning curricula. However, the Department of Architecture at Chosun University of Science and Technology is a two-year program that intensively teaches not only architectural engineering-related subjects but also architecture major subjects, cultivating architecture professionals suited for field-oriented employment in architectural design and construction management.
