Haenam-gun Creates 'Haenam Minam Festival' Without Overcharging Fees

Joint Crackdown on Overcharging, Haenam Sarang Gift Certificates Sold On-site with 7% Discount

Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, will form and operate a special joint inspection team between the public and private sectors to eradicate overcharging during the Haenam Minam Festival period.

According to the county on the 31st, as cases of overcharging when purchasing food at various local festivals have recently increased, a special inspection will be conducted throughout the festival period to stabilize local prices and prevent unfair trade practices.

The Haenam Minam Festival website provides advance notice of the selling prices for food booths during the festival period. The county plans to continuously monitor price trends near the festival site during the festival and strengthen on-site inspections focused on prevention, while taking immediate action if any violations are found.

Previously, the county conducted preliminary education to prevent overpricing for 10 food booth operators at the Minam Food Hall and 5 snack booths, covering issues such as violations of origin labeling and measurement practices, bundled sales, price fixing through collusion, and excessive charges compared to services provided.

Inspections during the festival will be conducted jointly with related organizations and groups such as the local merchants' association, and a price stabilization campaign will also be carried out to ensure that tourists visiting the festival do not feel economic or psychological burdens.

In this regard, a booth selling Haenam Love Gift Certificates, which can be freely used within the festival site, will be operated at the festival, and especially during November, the discount rate on the gift certificates will be increased to 7%, with sales capped at a maximum of 500,000 KRW per person to provide convenience.

A county official stated, “We will eradicate overcharging and continuously foster a price stabilization atmosphere so that local festivals can lead to economic revitalization.”
