Ewha Womans University Public Diplomacy Center and Korea Foundation Host 2023 Korea-Germany Junior Forum

The forum, held from the 1st to the 4th of next month, was established in 2012 as a follow-up project to the Han-German Forum, a private permanent conference body involving prominent figures from the political, economic, cultural, and educational fields of both Korea and Germany. Youth under the age of 35 from both countries gather at the forum to discuss ways to promote friendship and development between the two nations.

Marking its 11th year since establishment, this year's Han-German Junior Forum increased the total number of delegates from both countries from 30 to 50. This was made possible by the prize money donated by German Chancellor Merkel, who received the Seoul Peace Prize.

This year's forum will hold discussions on five topics: 'Energy Security and Sustainable Energy,' 'Aging Population and Birth Rate,' 'Coexistence with People of Immigrant Backgrounds,' 'AI: Ethical Considerations, Implementation, and Regulation,' and 'The Ukraine War and the Emerging World Order.' Twenty-five young representatives selected nationwide from Korea have been conducting research on the five discussion topics since August. On the 21st, the Korean and German delegations met in Busan for a preliminary meeting. The discussion contents will be separately compiled and delivered to the foreign ministries of both countries.
