Earlier, since the start of the 8th term elected government, the county successfully attracted three companies: Jitek Co., Ltd., Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., and SB Food Co., Ltd.
Through this, about 700 jobs have been created, and the Gochang New Vitality Industrial Complex has shown a 45% occupancy rate, sparking strong interest among the residents.
The world-class conglomerate ‘Samsung Electronics’ is investing 300 billion KRW in an 180,000㎡ area of the New Vitality Industrial Complex to build a Smart Hub complex. This is the largest investment scale among corporate attraction cases (excluding tourism) since the launch of the elected government.
Samsung Electronics is planning to relocate its comprehensive logistics center (CDC) from Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do, and is pushing forward with plans to build logistics centers equipped with cutting-edge automated facilities by region.
Regarding the Gochang Smart Hub complex, considering the investment scale and construction process, it is analyzed (by Jeonbuk Research Institute) to have a production inducement effect of 304.8 billion KRW, a value-added inducement effect of 131.4 billion KRW, and an employment inducement effect of 2,450 people.
Jitek, a manufacturer related to communication device semiconductors, plans to invest 15 billion KRW initially in production facilities on 33,000㎡ (10,000 pyeong) of the New Vitality Industrial Complex and aims to invest a total of 30 billion KRW over three years.
SB Food (manufacturer of oligosaccharides and starch syrup) will also utilize the Pepper Comprehensive Distribution Center to start investing 4 billion KRW in production facilities from the second half of this year, with a total investment of 26 billion KRW over two years.
At the briefing, it was highlighted that the companies successfully attracted by Gochang-gun share a focus on ‘eco-friendliness’ and ‘future advanced industries.’
Due to the nature of logistics centers and communication device semiconductors, water usage is low and the generation of wastewater and waste is minimal, which helps minimize harm to residents’ lives and the surrounding environment.
The residents who filled the briefing hall also welcomed Gochang-gun’s attraction of eco-friendly and advanced companies, expressing great expectations.
One resident said, “I hope companies with future growth value come in so that young people can work freely and bring vitality to the region.”
Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “The New Vitality Industrial Complex, which was a painful issue for the people of Gochang, is transforming into a prime industrial complex that will change the industrial structure of Jeollabuk-do, including Gochang-gun. We will continue to do our best to create jobs and revitalize the local economy through more aggressive corporate attraction.”
