He said, "I fully accept all responsibility for the unfortunate incident that occurred on the 24th and am sincerely reflecting on it," and added, "Regardless of the reason, I am deeply saddened to have disappointed your trust."

He also stated, "My shameful excuse after the accident was an insincere response made under the influence, and I bow my head in apology for causing even greater disappointment," and "I will sincerely cooperate with the upcoming police investigation and humbly accept any related penalties."

He further added, "I will take my responsibilities and actions as a public official seriously, reflect deeply, and strive to repay the residents through diligent legislative activities."

On the 24th, around 12:15 a.m., Ji was caught by police after hitting a protective guardrail on a road in Cheonan City, Chungnam Province, and driving about 300 meters further. The police detected signs of drinking, such as the smell of alcohol from Ji and his passenger, and attempted an alcohol test, but Ji reportedly refused.

According to a previous YTN report, Ji denied the charges, saying, "The designated driver caused the accident and fled. I have never driven under the influence." However, the police confirmed, "There was no designated driver."

Ji is scheduled to appear for police questioning on the 30th.
