Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) has been carrying out the ‘Hopeful (餐) Lunchbox Special Task Force’ project since the 25th to support local children and families with disabilities in Gokseong-eup through the Gokseong-eup Community Security Council.
The Gokseong-eup Community Security Council visited the Gokseong Regional Children’s Center, Kkumnarae Regional Children’s Center, Youth Culture House, and 39 households with children and disabled family members.
They delivered pizza and chicken to the facilities and provided coupons exchangeable for pizza and chicken to the target households as part of their sharing volunteer service.
The ‘Hopeful (餐)’ Lunchbox Special Task Force project is a resident-led village welfare initiative that the Gokseong-eup Community Security Council has been promoting for three years.
This project delivers pizza, chicken, and other meals to low-income households with children and disabled members who have limited opportunities to dine out.
Park Sam-ryong, the private committee chairman, said, “It was a very meaningful time to provide support and encouragement not only to struggling families but also to children who are the future of the community. We will continue to faithfully fulfill our role as a council that practices warm sharing for the local community.”
In addition to volunteer activities for local residents, the Gokseong-eup Community Security Council is also promoting programs to alleviate the loneliness of elderly people living alone.
Through the ‘Good Day Together~!’ beauty service providing hair and grooming services to seniors aged 75 and older, and the ‘Happy Companion’ senior forest outing event, participants visited the Gokseong Healing Forest to enjoy rest and fellowship in nature.
