Gwangju Seo-gu Supports 'Household Food Waste Processors'... Up to 300,000 KRW

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) is implementing the first pilot project in Gwangju to support home food waste processors.

According to Seo-gu on the 27th, this project is part of the food waste generation reduction policy. Since 80% of food waste is generated at home, the project aims to fundamentally reduce food waste generated at home and provide convenience in disposal by supporting subsidies for purchasing food waste processors.

The purchase subsidy targets products certified for quality such as K-Mark, Environmental Label, and Q-Mark, supporting 50% of the processor purchase cost, up to a maximum of 300,000 KRW.

However, food waste disposers installed in kitchen sinks are excluded from the support target.

Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting from the 30th for Seo-gu residents. Applicants must visit the Cleaning Administration Division with the subsidy application form and required documents posted on the Seo-gu Office website to apply in person.

Subsidy recipients will be selected and individually notified afterward. Detailed information such as application documents can be found in the notices section on the district website.

Lee Hyunsun, head of the Cleaning Administration Division of Seo-gu Office, said, “This pilot project will provide great convenience in handling food waste at home,” and added, “We will do our best to lead carbon neutrality through the reduction of food waste and the recycling of resources.”
