Presenting the Agricultural Policy Direction for Damyang-gun Through Sharing Current Agricultural Policy Issues
On the 26th, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 27th that it held a special lecture titled "Future Growth and Development Plans for Agriculture" by inviting National Assembly member Hong Moon-pyo, a member of the National Assembly's Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock, Food, and Maritime Affairs Committee, at the 3rd-floor auditorium of the Dambit Agricultural Hall.
About 230 people, including farmers and public officials, attended the lecture to share current agricultural policy issues for future growth and development of agriculture and the direction of agricultural policies that Damyang-gun should pursue.
In his lecture, Assemblyman Hong Moon-pyo said, "Farmers are the main producers of food that 50 million people depend on. For rural areas to prosper, it is urgent to improve laws and systems so that farmers can increase their income in proportion to their efforts."
He emphasized that true local autonomy can only be achieved through institutional reforms that transfer national taxes such as liquor tax and comprehensive real estate tax to local taxes, thereby adjusting the unreasonable structure between national and local taxes.
Also, on the same day, Assemblyman Hong visited the pilot plant for broccoli sprout plant factories, a key project promoted by Damyang-gun to overcome the climate crisis and develop new agricultural income sources, showing great interest in this scientific and systematic farming method for the agricultural transformation.
County Governor Lee Byung-no said, "I hope this lecture will be a valuable opportunity to focus on innovative growth and future value of agriculture," adding, "We will actively promote policies that increase farmers' income, such as fostering high value-added agriculture, to build a prosperous rural community where everyone thrives."
