Gwangju Dong-gu 'Dongmyeong-dong Coffee Walk' Event

Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will hold the "3rd Dongmyeongdong Coffee Walk" event over two days on the 4th and 5th of next month in the Dongmyeongdong Cafe Street area.

Gwangju Dong-gu 'Dongmyeong-dong Coffee Walk' Event

The "Dongmyeongdong Coffee Walk" is a Dongmyeongdong resident-business win-win festival that has been prepared over the past year by the Dongmyeong Community Win-Win Council, Dongmyeongdong coffee shops, and the Dongmyeongdong Residents' Autonomous Association, with residents and local stores working together.

This festival, with the slogan "Both hands were warm, you too, and the coffee," selected through a national public contest via SNS channels last August, carries the message of sharing warm memories as warm as coffee, and is expected to provide visitors with an unforgettable experience through specialized content.

The "Coffee Tour" selects 32 cafes in Dongmyeongdong as coffee tour stores, where pre-selected participants can visit assigned cafes at their discretion to taste each store’s coffee or desserts and enjoy different concepts of music, coffee aroma, and interior design unique to each store.

Through the sticker rally event, participants can take 인증샷 (certification photos) at designated Dongmyeongdong landmarks, collect stickers, and receive a mug as a reward.

In addition, differentiated content awaits citizen participation, including ▲ the "Coffee Market," where visitors can purchase various desserts that pair well with coffee and view exhibitions of a 100-year-old coffee grinder and eco-friendly coffee goods ▲ the "Coffee Award," where 30 of Gwangju’s hottest cafes compete in taste ▲ and the public art project "Coffee Bean Artist," where each citizen attaches a coffee bean to a large mural to complete a coffee bean wall painting.

Furthermore, this event aims for zero waste by minimizing the use of disposable products; during the coffee tour, participants are encouraged to use in-store tableware, and reusable cups will be provided to visitors for tastings at the Coffee Award.

Dong-gu expects that through the coffee festival, now in its third year, it will strengthen local brands centered around the Dongmyeongdong Cafe Street, contribute to revitalizing the local commercial district, and provide tourists and citizens with various cultural enjoyment opportunities themed around coffee.
