Held on the 26th at Goryeong-gun Sports Park
Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, successfully concluded the ‘KBS Open Concert Celebrating the Goryeong Jisandong Tumuli World Heritage Registration’ held at the Goryeong-gun Sports Park on the 26th.
This concert was held to widely promote and commemorate the value of the ‘Goryeong Jisandong Tumuli (Gaya Tumuli),’ which was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site last September.
The open concert featured performances by Jinseong, Song Gain, Bicycle Built for Two, Park Ki-young, Liberante, Purple Kiss, Second Floor Bus, and Jung Min-chan, celebrating the World Heritage registration.
The passionate performances of the artists, set against the nighttime scenery of the Jisandong Tumuli, created a unique atmosphere that can only be experienced in Goryeong-gun. In particular, the grandeur of the 700 tumuli visible from the venue was enough to evoke awe from the audience.
Goryeong-gun has been striving for over 10 years since 2011 to have the Jisandong Tumuli registered as a World Heritage site, and it was officially registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site last September.
The Jisandong Tumuli are the burial grounds of the ruling class of Daegaya, which played a significant role in Korea’s ancient society, and are regarded as an important heritage that will shed light on the forgotten Daegaya civilization.
To celebrate the World Heritage registration of the Goryeong Jisandong Tumuli, many distinguished guests including Lee Nam-chul, Goryeong-gun Governor, Kim Myung-guk, Chairman and members of the Goryeong County Council, Noh Seong-hwan, member of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council, and about 7,000 residents from inside and outside the region attended, enriching the event.
Governor Lee Nam-chul said, “I hope this concert, which embraces all generations, provided a time to comfort the weary hearts of everyday life,” and added, “We ask for much interest and visits to Goryeong-gun, a World Heritage city represented by the Goryeong Jisandong Tumuli.”
The recorded open concert will be broadcast on KBS 1TV on December 3rd at 5:40 PM.
