Sejong Center for the Performing Arts announced on the 27th that the Buk Seoul Dream Forest Art Center in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, operated by the center, will present a variety of performances for the whole family to enjoy during the autumn and winter seasons.
First to open is Yeonhuidan Palsandae's 'Mupung: 舞風,' a work that reinterprets the performances of the old female nongak (farmers' music) troupe in a modern context. The 'Individual Play' segment, which changes with each performance, is expected to offer new emotions, and even those who attend all shows are anticipated to discover new enjoyment each time. The highlight of the performance, Pungut, is a whirlwind scene where the women's lung capacity reaches its limit. Director Jin Oksub stated, "It will be 10 minutes of opening the rib cage with a creak and gripping the heart tightly." The performance runs for four days from November 2 to 5.
On November 14 at 7:30 PM, the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts and Gangbuk Cultural Foundation will co-host the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra's 'Our Neighborhood Concert.' This classical concert brings the Seoul Philharmonic directly to citizens, featuring a small ensemble performing familiar classical pieces by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and others. Commentary will also be provided to offer the audience a unique charm of classical music.
The resident theater company at Dream Forest Art Center, Theater Choin, will perform the play 'Spray.' The story revolves around a man whose life changes from the moment he mistakenly takes and opens someone else's delivery package, depicting unexpected happenings in ordinary daily life. The production incorporates cutting-edge 3D mapping video, mime, caricature, and more. It was invited to the 2018 Seoul International Performing Arts Festival and received the Best Work and Best Direction awards at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival's Asian Arts Awards, gaining recognition for its artistic quality. The play runs from November 17 to 19.
On December 23 at 5 PM, the day before Christmas Eve, Dubeonjjaedal and Dickpunks will share the stage and interact with the audience. Dubeonjjaedal, a world music band that approaches folk music from various countries, will open the stage, followed by Dickpunks, who gained attention as idols in Hongdae and were runners-up on Mnet's 'Superstar K4.' Both groups will showcase their unique styles and perform a variety of songs that warmly evoke the year-end and Christmas spirit.
