Chungcheongnam-do has completed the blueprint for the Chungnam Provincial Park Golf Course in Cheongyang (hereinafter referred to as Cheongyang Park Golf Course), which will have 108 holes. The core plan is to develop the park golf course and related facilities by 2025 in the old Gubong Mine area of Guryong-ri, Namyang-myeon, Cheongyang-gun, with a total project cost of 23 billion KRW.

On the 26th, Chungnam Province held the final report meeting for the basic plan and preliminary survey service of the Cheongyang Park Golf Course.
The service began in July to derive the site and course layout, facility scale and arrangement, landscape, project cost, and operation plan for the Cheongyang Park Golf Course.
Earlier, Chungnam Province signed a business agreement with Cheongyang-gun and the Korea Park Golf Association to materialize the promotion of the Cheongyang Park Golf Course project.
The agreement included relocating the Korea Park Golf Association, currently operating in Seoul, to Cheongyang, Chungnam, and constructing an office, education center, and park golf course.
The service was conducted to draft the project blueprint to be promoted according to the agreement.
According to the basic plan derived through the service, Chungnam Province plans to operate three 36-hole park golf courses (applying an area of over 26,000㎡ per 18 holes) by utilizing 164,391㎡ of the total project site area of 187,013㎡ for the park golf course.
The remaining site area is designated for building facilities of 8,947㎡, a permanent parking lot of 7,213㎡ (223 parking spaces for passenger cars), and buffer green space of 6,462㎡.
In particular, the service separately allocated 14,213㎡ as parking space to be used during various tournaments. This area can accommodate about 500 vehicles, including buses and passenger cars.
Considering that most users of the park golf course will be elderly, the clubhouse, education center, and parking lot are placed in the central part of the project site.
Also, inside the clubhouse and education center, there will be classrooms, a screen park golf practice range, a gym, strength measurement and exercise prescription rooms, a sauna, counseling rooms, and rest and convenience facilities.
With the relocation of the Korea Park Golf Association, the education center to be operated together is expected to certify about 13,000 leaders and referees annually, and about 5,000 people will receive leader refresher training and referee courses.
The education center’s operation programs will include senior health, dance, yoga, park golf education, screen park golf, and weekend sports activities.
Outside the park golf course, a historical exhibition hall and sales facilities introducing the old Gubong Mine and other sites will also be established.
After completion, the Cheongyang Park Golf Course is expected to be used by an average of 1,800 people per day. This figure was derived by reflecting the current daily user status (600 people) of the Sancheoneo Park Golf Course (36 holes) operated in Hwacheon, Gangwon-do.
Annual revenue from operating the park golf course is estimated at 4.606 billion KRW, with expenses calculated at 1.144 billion KRW.
Kang Gwan-sik, Director of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Chungnam Province, said, "The Cheongyang Park Golf Course project is being promoted to expand sports welfare, improve the health of the elderly, and revitalize the economy of the closed mine area and Chungnam region." He added, "Chungnam Province will proceed with the Cheongyang Park Golf Course project at a rapid pace to ensure that the best park golf course in the nation is established in the region."
