10th Asian Logistics Expansion
Hanjin announced on the 27th that it has established a representative office in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, marking its entry into the Mongolian logistics market. This is the company's 10th country for logistics expansion in the Asia region.
Regarding the opening of this office, Hanjin explained that the widespread popularity of Korean Wave (Hallyu) in Mongolia has led to active trade, and by expanding logistics services and infrastructure?which are still insufficient compared to the number of Korean companies entering the country?they aim to expand business opportunities.
Hanjin plans to provide services tailored to the needs of local companies by securing reasonable freight rates and stable cargo transport space throughout the year through cooperative relationships with local logistics companies such as Korean Air, Dongyoung Shipping, and Sinotrans. They will also discover new business opportunities by revitalizing sales networks with distribution companies and vendors.
The company has overseas subsidiaries in Asia, including five in China (Shanghai, Dalian, Qingdao, Shenzhen, Hong Kong), as well as in Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Uzbekistan. Representative offices, which are smaller operational bases than subsidiaries, are located in Thailand, Singapore, and Japan.
The establishment of a representative office in Malaysia is targeted for completion this year. They are preparing a foothold for Southeast Asian logistics business expansion centered on the Indochina Peninsula, including Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
A Hanjin official stated, "Mongolia is a representative Hallyu country where various consumer goods companies, including major domestic supermarkets, convenience stores, and bakeries, have entered. We will support the growth and expansion of Korean companies through logistics hubs connecting Korea, Mongolia, and major Asian regions."
