According to the Central Accident Response Headquarters for Lumpy Skin Disease on the 27th, 9 additional cases were reported yesterday in Yeoncheon, Hoengseong, and Ganghwa. As of now (8 a.m.), a total of 47 cases have occurred across 14 cities and counties. The total number of dairy cows and Korean native cattle raised on the affected farms is 3,321. The headquarters is currently conducting tests on 7 cases.
The headquarters plans to complete vaccination within 5 days from the time of occurrence for farms within 20 km of the initially affected farm and farms within the 10 km quarantine zone of newly affected farms, using 540,000 doses of pre-stocked vaccines. As of 8 a.m. the previous day, 277,000 out of 350,000 target cattle, accounting for 79%, have been vaccinated.
To stabilize the outbreak situation of Lumpy Skin Disease, the headquarters is pushing for the emergency import of a total of 4 million doses of vaccines in addition to the pre-stocked 540,000 doses. First, 1.27 million doses will be imported on the 28th of this month, and the remaining 2.73 million doses are scheduled to be imported into the country by the 31st.
Along with this, an emergency order for vaccination of all cattle nationwide has been issued, with plans to complete vaccination by the 11th of next month.
