November 3-4 at BEXCO, Participating Organizations and Visitors Communicate Together... Diverse Event Lineup
Opening Ceremony at 3 PM on November 3, 'Busan Citizen Social Service Public Contest No.1 Project' Awards Ceremony
Busan City will hold the "1st Busan Social Service Expo" under the theme "Safe Busan, Social Services Just Right for Me" from November 3 to 4 at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 2.
Planned and introduced for the first time by the city, the "Busan Social Service Expo" is designed as a festival where social service providers from various fields such as welfare, culture, and environment communicate with visitors through diverse content, serving as a platform for social service innovation and advancement.
The expo is hosted by the city and organized by the Busan Metropolitan City Social Service Institute, an affiliated institution under the city. It features a variety of programs including an opening ceremony, exhibition booths, side events (such as social service forums), and experiential activities.
At the exhibition booths, visitors can explore experiential and promotional booths from social service providers in welfare, healthcare, education, culture, and other sectors, as well as from various institutions including the city government, autonomous districts and counties, and central and local social service institutes (Gyeongnam, Daejeon, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam). A separate Busan Brand Pavilion will also be operated to promote the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo.
The city will operate 71 promotional booths categorized into seven major social service sectors: welfare, healthcare, education, employment, housing, culture, and environment. Booth colors will be differentiated by service sector to make it easier for citizens to identify.
Additionally, mobility-based social service experience buses such as the Employment (ItJob) Bus, Disabled City Tour (Narae) Bus, Medical Bus, and Education (Edu) Bus will be stationed at the event venue.
Side events include presentations of excellent cases from the "Safe Busan, Busan-type Integrated Care Project" currently implemented by autonomous districts and comprehensive social welfare centers, as well as a social service forum focused on social service innovation. Various citizen participation events will also be held.
At the integrated care excellent case presentation, seven cases including the operation plan of the Eoullim Center in Buk-gu will be presented. Special sessions will be held at the Gwang-an 4-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Suyeong-gu (focusing on social service advancement using big data technology) and the Yeongdo-gu Disabled Welfare Center (establishing a home care system for people with developmental disabilities).
Visitors to the event who complete the stamp mission will receive a coffee coupon, and among those who participate in the satisfaction survey, 1,004 people will be given souvenirs as part of various citizen participation events.
For social service workers, a healing zone will be set up within the venue, where six healing programs for social service workers will be operated.
The opening ceremony will be held on November 3 at 3 p.m. at the permanent stage in Hall 4D of BEXCO Exhibition Hall 2. A notable event at this expo is the award and handover ceremony for the "Busan Citizen Social Service Contest No. 1 Project," which has been conducted by the Busan Social Service Institute since August, to be held during the opening ceremony.
About 10,000 people including Ahn Byung-yoon, Deputy Mayor of Busan, Yoo Gyu-won, Director of the Busan Social Service Institute, social service-related organizations, and citizens are expected to attend the opening ceremony.
The "Busan Citizen Social Service Contest No. 1 Project" will be handed over to Deputy Mayor Ahn Byung-yoon at the opening ceremony, and the Busan Social Service Institute plans to supplement and review it so that it can be promoted as an official project in the future.
Any citizen interested in Busan social services can participate in the expo. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission is free.
For detailed information about participating companies, exhibition booths, and programs, please contact the Cooperation Support Department of the Busan Metropolitan City Social Service Institute or the Busan Social Service Expo Secretariat.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, "The 1st Busan Social Service Expo will serve as a communication platform where various social service sectors meet in line with the government's social service innovation and advancement policies. We will do our best to make it Busan's representative social service expo where citizens can learn about social services that are just right for them," and added, "We ask for the active interest and participation of all citizens."
