Cheon Ha-ram, the People Power Party's Suncheon-gap district committee chairman and a member of the 'Lee Jun-seok faction,' revealed that he declined the offer to join the Innovation Committee from Innovation Chairman In Yo-han, stating that "(joining the Innovation Committee) means acknowledging Representative Kim Ki-hyun's appointment authority."
On the 25th, Cheon said on CBS's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' "Representative Kim appointed Chairman In Yo-han, and ultimately, according to that appointment authority, I would be joining there," adding, "In the end, it means recognizing Representative Kim's appointment authority."
According to a previous media report, Chairman In offered Cheon a position as an innovation committee member, but Cheon refused. He stated, "Unless an innovation plan emerges that demands Representative Kim's resignation, I don't think this Innovation Committee holds much significance," and added, "It would be somewhat contradictory for me to accept that appointment and then say, 'Representative Kim Ki-hyun must be ended' there."
This means that he cannot join the Innovation Committee under Representative Kim's appointment authority and then present arguments that contradict it. However, he also explained that offering an innovation committee position to the 'Lee Jun-seok faction' holds significance. Cheon said, "I think Chairman In's act of proposing this to me again is itself a meaningful gesture," and clarified that he does not doubt the sincerity of Chairman In's gesture toward unity.
He also recommended Ha Tae-kyung, a People Power Party lawmaker who has expressed intentions to run in the metropolitan area, as an innovation committee member. He said, "It seems it would be good if Representative Ha joins," and added, "since many current lawmakers who have relinquished vested interests are joining the Innovation Committee, I believe it is possible."
