Yoon Urges Active Efforts to Export Smart Farms in Doha, Qatar

First Schedule of State Visit to Qatar, Attendance at International Horticultural Expo
Encouragement for Smart Farm Companies and Young Entrepreneurs Expanding into the Middle East Region

President Yoon Suk-yeol, on a state visit to Qatar, met with companies pioneering the smart farm market in the Middle East on the 24th (local time) and urged them to actively pursue exports.


On the first day of his visit to Qatar, President Yoon attended the opening ceremony of the Korea Pavilion at the Doha International Horticultural Expo. The Doha International Horticultural Expo is a large-scale horticultural event held for the first time in a desert climate region, with over 80 countries participating, including the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, and Japan, under the theme "Green Desert, Better Environment."

Korea established the Korea Pavilion featuring an outdoor garden reflecting Korean characteristics and a smart agriculture exhibition hall to promote Korea’s smart farming technology. At the event, President Yoon toured the Korean-style outdoor garden, which included a pavilion and sculptures representing Korea’s landscapes, then visited the smart agriculture exhibition hall to encourage smart farming export companies aiming to enter the Middle Eastern market, saying, "Please actively engage in smart farm exports."


A company representative involved in a vertical farm cooperation project with Qatar demonstrated remote control technology for vertical farms. Following this, a young entrepreneur who majored in engineering at university and is applying advanced engineering technology to agriculture to advance technology and promote exports introduced a crop observation robot.


Meanwhile, the government plans to establish a close intergovernmental cooperation system and actively support smart farm export companies to further expand smart farm exports, which are being revitalized through high-level economic diplomacy.
