Anyang City in Gyeonggi Province has completed the installation of flood barriers at 23 apartment complexes in the area to prevent damage such as flooding in underground spaces caused by heavy summer rains.
Flood barriers are facilities installed on underground parking lot ramps or basement entrances to prevent rainwater from entering the basement. Removable support-type flood barriers are mainly installed.
Last August, some underground parking lots in apartment complexes in the Anyang area were flooded due to heavy rain.
Accordingly, in March of this year, Anyang City revised the Anyang City Apartment Complex Management Ordinance and launched a project to provide subsidies for the installation of flood prevention facilities such as flood barriers.
Through this, when flood barriers are installed in apartment complexes, Anyang City supports 40-90% of the installation cost up to a maximum of 50 million KRW according to Appendix 1 of the ordinance, "Apartment Complex Subsidy Support Standards," and the remaining cost is borne by the respective apartment complex.
Anyang City recruited participants for the support project targeting apartment complexes in the area in three rounds, resulting in 23 complexes applying. The city provided subsidies of about 180 million KRW and completed the construction.
An official from Anyang City stated, "We will continue to promote the flood prevention facility installation support project to prepare for disasters caused by abnormal weather and do our best to create a safe residential environment in apartment complexes."
