Held Midterm Report Meeting on Foundation Establishment Plan
Expected to Play a Key Role in Advancing as a Cultural and Arts City
Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) is expected to accelerate the establishment of the Yeosu Culture and Arts Foundation, a core pledge of the 8th local government, as the blueprint for the foundation begins to take shape.
According to the city, on the 23rd, a 'Mid-term Report Meeting on the Study for Establishing the Yeosu Culture and Arts Foundation' was held at the city hall conference room with about 30 participants including Vice Mayor Kim Jong-gi, the service company, and the Culture and Arts Committee.
The 'Yeosu Culture and Arts Foundation' is a dedicated cultural and arts organization that plans and implements systematic cultural and arts policies to promote local culture and actively respond to rapidly changing cultural and artistic demands.
To establish the foundation, the city signed a research service contract with the Korea Cultural Policy Research Institute in June, held a kickoff meeting in July, and held this mid-term report meeting.
At the meeting, participants received reports from the service company on ▲ the current status of Yeosu's culture ▲ survey and artist interview results ▲ research progress on the direction of the cultural foundation establishment, and engaged in a heated discussion on key issues such as the foundation's name and whether to include tourism-related tasks.
Yeosu City plans to review the opinions and suggestions raised at this meeting, complete the remaining research tasks such as capital and economic feasibility analysis and organizational structure composition, and hold a final report meeting in early December.
On the day, Vice Mayor Kim Jong-gi said, “The Yeosu Culture and Arts Foundation is expected to play a pivotal role in Yeosu City's leap to become a cultural and arts city, so we will carefully review the matters discussed at this meeting to ensure there are no setbacks in its establishment and operation.”
