iPhone Now Supports Call Recording... Only SKT 'A.Dot' Subscribers

From the 24th, app update enables A. Phone use
Provides call recording, summary, and type analysis services

iPhone users can now record and summarize phone calls as well. This is possible through SK Telecom's artificial intelligence (AI) personal assistant service, A. Dot.


On the 24th, SKT announced that its AI personal assistant service A. Dot's iPhone application will offer new features such as call recording and call summarization through 'A. Phone.'

A. Phone analyzes the context of the call using AI and provides the call type and summary. It can be seen as a new phone service that expands management areas to work and daily life.


SKT subscribers can use A. Phone from today (the 24th) through the AI Phone menu at the bottom of the A. Dot iPhone app after updating the app.


However, only users who can make HD voice calls and agree to the collection and use of personal information through terms and conditions consent upon first use of A. Phone can use the service.


Voice calls made after agreeing to the terms will be provided through A. Phone, and users can use the call recording feature when making or receiving calls via the A. Dot app. Call recording can be done automatically or manually turned on from the call screen when needed.


When making a call, users can enter the number directly using the keypad in the AI Phone menu within the A. Dot app or tap specific call records or contacts on the A. Phone home screen to make calls, just like the existing phone app. If there is a previous call history with the other party via A. Phone, a summary of the previous call will be provided on the call screen during the outgoing call.


When receiving a call, if the user is subscribed to A. Phone and has a call history with the caller via A. Phone, the call will be received through A. Phone instead of the regular dialer, and a summary of the previous call with the caller will be provided on the incoming call screen.

Using AI on the entire call content, the service generates ▲a one-line summary representing the overall topic of the call ▲detailed summaries by call paragraphs ▲representative tags for each call ▲AI suggestions for patterns such as schedules, phone numbers, and account numbers mentioned during the call.


The A. Phone home menu consists of AI recommendations and recent records, and recent records can be viewed categorized by call types such as 'Work,' 'Daily Life,' and 'Inquiry.'


Call recordings are stored as app data on the user's device. Recording files are automatically deleted one year after creation.


Kim Yong-hoon, head of SKT's AI Service Division, said, "While previous phone services were limited to simply transmitting voice, A. Phone provides a new phone service experience by analyzing call content and offering summaries and type analysis. We especially expect it to receive great responses from iPhone users who had strong needs for call recording and summarization."
