Criticism of Double Standards in the Medical Field Following YouTube Channel Appearance
Former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk criticized the medical community's double standards shown during the Moon Jae-in administration and the current government regarding the expansion of medical school quotas.
On the 23rd, Cho appeared on the YouTube channel 'Park Si-young TV' and said, "During President Moon Jae-in's term, when they said they would increase medical school quotas by 400, doctors and medical students went on a total strike despite the COVID-19 crisis," adding, "But now that President Yoon Suk-yeol says he will increase it by 1,000, they are being compliant."
The Moon Jae-in administration announced plans in 2020 to increase medical school quotas by 400 annually, but the plan was scrapped due to strong opposition from the medical community.
Former Minister Cho stated, "The current presidential system is not a true democratic republic but operates like a monarchy," and claimed, "Even close aides and supporters of President Yoon think that if they speak out, they might be treated like in the Joseon Dynasty, whereas during President Moon Jae-in's time, they thought he would listen to them, so they spoke freely."
He added, "The fundamental power that sustains President Yoon Suk-yeol's authority is fear," explaining, "Everyone is scared because they believe he exercises force and violence through legal means."
