The contest, held on November 11 at the small theater on the 5th floor of the Dongdaemun Youth Center, aims to reflect the opinions of children and adolescents in policies to enhance effectiveness and provide a foundation for them to grow as democratic citizens.
The theme of the contest is "Dongdaemun-gu Changing Through the Participation of Children and Youth," and participants are free to propose policies or improvement plans in various fields such as youth activities, culture and arts, safety, human rights, daily life, and education.
Any children or adolescents residing in Dongdaemun-gu or attending schools located in Dongdaemun-gu can participate. Applications can be submitted by filling out the application form posted on the Dongdaemun Youth Center website and sending it via email.
The results of the document screening will be announced on November 1 through the Dongdaemun Youth Center website or individual contact. Proposals that pass the screening will be qualified to be presented in various forms such as presentations, plays, or songs at the policy proposal contest.
Awardees include one Grand Prize winner (Dongdaemun-gu Mayor's Award), two Excellence Award winners (Dongdaemun-gu Council Chairman's Award), and three Merit Award winners (Dongdaemun Youth Center Director's Award). Ilpyeong Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, "Through this policy proposal contest, I hope children and adolescents will have the opportunity to recognize community issues and think about solutions, growing into democratic citizens."
