The 12th Seoul Chungmuro Film Festival Opens on the 27th

The 12th Seoul Chungmuro Film Festival Opens on the 27th Movie Bad Land Still Cut

Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) announced that the 12th Seoul Chungmuro Film Festival will be held from the 27th to November 1st. The festival is hosted and organized by the Jung-gu Cultural Foundation Chungmu Art Center (President Jo Se-hyun) and the Korean Federation of Film Workers (Chairman Yang Yun-ho), with support from the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Jung-gu, and the Korean Film Archive.


The opening ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. in the Chungmu Art Center Small Theater, hosted by announcer Kim Seong-gyeong. The opening video is a documentary produced in Chungmuro titled "Once Upon a Time in Chungmuro." Following this, the silent film "The Prosecutor and the Female Teacher" will be screened, along with a performance by narrator Choi Young-jun.


A total of 36 films will be featured at this festival. Films such as "Connection," "One Fine Spring Day," and "A Tale of Two Sisters" will be screened at the Chungmu Art Center, CGV Myeongdong Station Cine Library, and various locations throughout Jung-gu. Notably, as this festival is held after the end of COVID-19, a new "Village Theater" section has been introduced to bring films directly to various neighborhoods. ▲ On October 29 at 7 p.m., "A Small Garden" will be screened at Namsangol Hanok Village ▲ On the 30th at 6 p.m., "Mala" at Bongrae Elementary School ▲ On the 31st at 6 p.m., "Walking King" ▲ On November 1 at 1:30 p.m., "Delta Boys" at Yurak General Social Welfare Center. The aim is to create a film festival that is closer to residents by visiting their living areas.


The festival will conclude on November 1 at 5 p.m. in the Chungmu Art Center Grand Theater. The closing ceremony will be hosted by announcer Yoon Young-mi, featuring an award for merit and a closing declaration, followed by the screening of the film "Bad Lands." This film will be screened for the first time in Korea, and director Masato Harada is scheduled to give a stage greeting before the screening, adding excitement to the closing ceremony.


Mayor Kim Gil-seong of Jung-gu stated, "We will create a film festival that actively communicates with audiences and is made together by composing programs that connect various cultural festival contents encompassing both popularity and artistry with Jung-gu's representative tourist belts such as Namsan, Myeongdong, and Chungmuro."
