In April, as the special law for the establishment of the Aerospace Agency submitted by Gyeongnam Province to the National Assembly stalled amid conflicts between the ruling and opposition parties, Park Dong-sik, mayor of Sacheon City, Gyeongnam, held a solo protest in front of the National Assembly on the 23rd.

Mayor Park said, "I came out with a desperate feeling, wondering how long we will just watch the 1,300 trillion won space market."

He emphasized, "Some conflicts of interest that inevitably arise during the policy decision-making process should not escalate into regional conflicts nor ruin the national century-long plan of establishing the Aerospace Agency."

Mayor Park added, "Our country is falling behind in the global space race, and we must fully join this competition. A dedicated space organization is essential for this."
