According to KIPO on the 22nd, counterfeit product response technologies are classified by function into ▲distinguishing between genuine and counterfeit products ▲tracking the distribution history of genuine products ▲preventing forgery and alteration of genuine products.
The guidebook is designed to enable companies to apply counterfeit product response technologies to their own products and respond to each stage of counterfeit product distribution.
The first chapter presents overall usage methods, including evaluation factors for each technology such as ease of technology adoption, reliability of judgment, user convenience, usability, and scalability, as well as precautions to keep in mind when using the guidebook.
The second chapter specifically explains the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages, actual application cases, and recommended industrial sectors for each technology type based on recent trends in counterfeit product response technologies.
Following this, the third chapter introduces 12 public and private companies possessing counterfeit product response technologies to help businesses apply these technologies to actual products.
The guidebook will be made available from the 30th on the websites of KIPO, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), and the Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency.
Offline, it can be accessed at the National Library of Korea, the National Archives of Korea, and the National Assembly Library.
Han Deok-won, head of the Industrial Property Dispute Response Division at KIPO, said, “As counterfeit K-Brand products increase, the damage to individual export companies and the overall Korean economy is inevitable. We hope this guidebook will help domestic companies acquire counterfeit product response technologies and focus on expanding exports.”
