The opening ceremony held at 6 p.m. on the main stage was grandly attended by about 2,000 people, including Lee Sang-ik, Mayor of Hampyeong-gun, Lee Gae-ho, Member of the National Assembly, and heads of sister organizations of Hampyeong-gun.

The opening celebration performances included the original play "Osanggojeol Ieora," which expressed the story of Hampyeong through song and drama, and a stage by Na Tae-ju, famous for Taekwondo trot. The first day’s event concluded with a light show performance featuring 600 clustered drones shining beautifully like lights in the night sky.

Additionally, the county streamed the opening and inauguration events live on YouTube, attracting much attention.

At the main square of this year’s Chrysanthemum Festival, a large gift box chrysanthemum sculpture was placed at the center, surrounded by chrysanthemum walls. Unique chrysanthemum artworks such as bouquets, cats, peacocks, mirror photo zones, hearts, magical castles, and nine-story pagodas, along with various performances and experience programs, have drawn great interest from tourists.

Mayor Lee Sang-ik said, “I hope visitors to the 2023 Korea Chrysanthemum Festival, where beautiful chrysanthemums are in full bloom, will fully enjoy the various attractions and create precious and happy memories.”
