Yoon's Approval Rating at 30%... Lee Jun-seok Says, "If the Ruling Party Has No Plan, Let's Step Down"

Post on SNS about Korean Gallup poll
"Seoul positivity 25%... Harder than Gyeonggi"

Former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok pressured the government and ruling party on the 20th, referring to a poll showing a decline in President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating, saying, "I'm going crazy. Cutting just one Lee Jun-seok is no longer enough," and "If there are no measures, please step down."

Lee shared the results of the Gallup Korea survey for the third week of October on social media, noting that President Yoon's job approval rating was 30%, marking 30% again after six months.

The poll Lee mentioned was Gallup Korea's national approval rating survey for the third week of October, released that day. Gallup Korea surveyed 1,000 people aged 18 and older nationwide from October 17 to 19. The positive evaluation of President Yoon's job performance, "doing well," was recorded at 30%, down 3 percentage points from the previous week. The negative evaluation, "doing poorly," rose 3 percentage points to 61%.

The president's approval rating hitting 30% is the first time in six months since the fourth week of April (30%). The lowest point this year was the second week of April (27%).

Lee said, "Seoul's positive rating is 25%, negative 66%, making it worse than Gyeonggi Province. TK (Daegu and Gyeongbuk) has started to have negative evaluations surpassing positive ones," and questioned, "Until recently, the sycophants were driving out those who said Seoul would win and Gyeonggi would lose slightly, warning of a crisis. What is this?"

He added, "Cutting just one Lee Jun-seok is no longer enough. What good does raising it by 3-4% do?" and said, "If you cut Lee Jun-seok, Yoo Seung-min, Ha Tae-kyung, and about 10 people, then you might get closer to the winning zone."

This appears to be a rebuttal to People Power Party spokesperson Kim Min-soo's statement on MBN's 'Morning & Maeil Business' the previous day, who predicted, "(If Lee Jun-seok leaves the party,) the party's approval rating will rise by 3-4 percentage points in the long term."

Meanwhile, the poll was conducted through random virtual number extraction and telephone interviewer interviews, with a response rate of 14.2% and a sampling error of ±3.1 percentage points (95% confidence level).
