At the Daegu Suseong-gu forum, Oh Chang-gyun, former director of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Institute and the standing representative of the Dongseo Future Forum in Daegu, will deliver a keynote presentation on ‘Innovation of Urban Spatial Structure and Suseong New Town,’ with Professor Seo Jeong-hae of Kyungpook National University serving as the discussion chair. Participants in the discussion include Professor Lee Yong-ho of Yeungnam University, Park Jae-il, editorial director of Yeungnam Ilbo, Woo Seong-jin, former vice president of Megagen Implant, and Kim Heung-su, CEO of I-myeong E&C.
The forum will deeply address the functional advancement in education, housing, culture, and economic sectors of the Beomeo, Manchon, and Hwanggeum areas, as well as the Gosan and Yeonho areas in Suseong-gu, Daegu. In particular, it plans to propose a new development model for Suseong New Town through the economic and industrial structural advancement of the Gosan and Yeonho areas.
As a core task of innovating the urban spatial structure, the forum will present concrete development solutions regarding the relocation of military units such as the 2nd Operations Command, the 5th Logistics Support Command, and the Air Force Air Defense Artillery School, which are major issues in Suseong-gu, as well as the relocation of the court and prosecution offices. Additionally, it will propose connected transportation network plans following the reorganization of the urban spatial structure and functional advancement.
Oh Chang-gyun, former director of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Institute, diagnosed, “A new development axis is being created north-south along with the east-west axis centered on Dalseo-gu and Suseong-gu, the central axis of Daegu,” adding, “For Suseong-gu to maintain its status as the heart of Daegu, innovation of the urban spatial structure and functional advancement are extremely urgent.”
