Additional Restrooms Added on the 1st Floor of the Year-End Management Building and Other Areas
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is expanding convenience facilities at the Blue House. Reflecting opinions that there are insufficient resting places despite the spacious area and relatively long viewing times, additional restrooms will be installed by the end of the year. An official stated on the 19th, "We are currently operating five locations: two indoor restrooms, two outdoor restrooms, and one recently established in Yeomin 1-gwan," adding, "We plan to add another on the first floor of the management building by the end of the year." They also said, "We will maintain cleanliness through cleaning operations and odor removal devices."
Until August, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism had restricted access to the first floor of Yeomin 1-gwan, but it has now been opened as a rest area for visitors. An official said, "The space is spacious and comfortable. Nursing is also possible," and added, "300 to 400 visitors come daily." They continued, "Since its opening, we have been internally reviewing the expansion of convenience facilities," and said, "We plan to actively expand convenience facilities through consultations with the Cultural Heritage Administration, Jongno District Office, and administrative procedures."
Yoo Byung-chae, head of the Blue House Management and Utilization Promotion Team, said, "We prioritize visitor convenience and are working hard to develop ideas to enhance convenience," adding, "Starting this month, we will also distribute Japanese and Chinese language guide brochures (leaflets) for the rapidly increasing number of group tourists from Japan and China."
