Trend of Strengthening Plastic Environmental Regulations
LG Household & Health Care Uses Sterilized Toothpaste Pack Recycled Paper
Amore-LG Chem Sign Packaging Business Agreement
Increase in Supply of Eco-friendly Materials Based on Pyrolysis Oil
As global regulations on plastic environments tighten, the cosmetics and daily necessities industries are also experiencing a wave of eco-friendliness. Companies are increasingly partnering with chemical firms to develop various types of eco-friendly containers.

According to the related industry on the 21st, LG Household & Health Care has been using 'sterilized pack recycled paper' for the individual box packaging of its toothpaste brands such as Perio and Jukyeom since this month.
This is to maximize the use of paper recycled from sterilized packs, which are difficult to recycle, contributing to the establishment of a resource circular economy and spreading ESG management. LG Household & Health Care is the first in the domestic cosmetics and daily necessities industry to apply sterilized pack recycled paper to product packaging.
LG Household & Health Care plans to apply sterilized pack recycled paper to new cosmetic sets and Lunar New Year gift set packaging next year. Through this, they plan to produce up to 1,081 tons of paper packaging annually using sterilized pack recycled paper.
To this end, on the 8th of last month, they signed a business agreement for 'establishing a circular system through sterilized pack recycling' together with Hansol Paper, which has sterilized pack recycling technology, 11 food companies, and the Korea Packaging Recycling Business Cooperative.
Amorepacific previously signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with LG Chem on the 16th to develop and supply eco-friendly packaging. They agreed to apply eco-friendly plastic materials supplied by LG Chem?such as recycled, pyrolysis oil-based, and bio-based plastics?to Amorepacific’s cosmetics and daily necessities packaging. Specifically, they will start by applying recycled polyethylene to Mise-en-sc?ne product containers and recycled polypropylene to caps, and plan to expand the supply of eco-friendly materials including bio-based raw materials and pyrolysis oil-based plastics.
KOLMAR Holdings signed a business agreement last August with Yeonwoo and Hanwha Solutions to jointly promote the commercialization process from the development and production to distribution of eco-friendly cosmetic containers.
Hanwha Solutions completed the development of eco-friendly cosmetic containers through joint research with Yeonwoo that began in 2021. KOLMAR plans to develop environmentally friendly raw materials and expand products by 2030, as well as replace 50% of the cosmetic tubes they produce with eco-friendly materials. They are promoting the commercialization of eco-friendly cosmetic containers made from recycled plastic waste.
Est?e Lauder plans to collaborate with SK Chemicals to develop cosmetic containers using circular recycling materials. Circular recycling is a technology that chemically breaks down waste plastic into monomers, the raw materials for plastics.
