60 Neighborhood Alley Restaurants Selected in Seo-gu, Gwangju

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 19th that it selected 60 "Our Neighborhood Alley Restaurants" and held a plaque awarding ceremony at the Seo-gu Office Nanum Hall.

Seo-gu selected 60 "Our Neighborhood Alley Restaurants" from small-scale (around 100㎡) restaurants located in neighborhood alleys recommended by the Dong Administrative Welfare Centers and Residents' Autonomy Committees, based on 15 selection criteria including taste, friendliness, and willingness to participate in hygiene improvement projects.

On the 19th, Seo-gu District Office in Gwangju held a designation plaque awarding ceremony at the Nanum Hall of Seo-gu Office, selecting 60 local alleyway restaurants.

Seo-gu plans to promote and support the selected alley restaurants under the concept of "small but filled with taste, affection (情), and cleanliness (淸)."

In particular, this year, Seo-gu will conduct plaque awarding, produce promotional booklets, and provide hygiene consulting, and plans to support continuous promotion and business capacity-building consulting in the future.

Additionally, "Our Neighborhood Alley Restaurants" will be linked with the Communication Theme Street project, aiming to discover a total of 100 locations by 2025.

Seo-gu plans to use "Our Neighborhood Alley Restaurants" as a testing ground to establish support measures for small-scale, low-income alley restaurants and foster these alley restaurants to play a leading role in revitalizing the alley commercial districts.

Lee Sangyong, Director of the Seo-gu Health and Hygiene Division, said, "We hope residents show great interest and patronage to 'Our Neighborhood Alley Restaurants,' and we will do our best to ensure that this project contributes to improving the image of small-scale low-income restaurants and revitalizing the alley commercial districts."
