'Disaster Response Safe Korea Training'
On the 19th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that the 3rd Disaster Response Safe Korea Drill of 2023 will be conducted from the 23rd, starting with training by Chungcheongbuk-do and Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority, until the 3rd of next month.
This drill will focus mainly on disaster types that are likely to occur in the fall and winter seasons and pose a high risk of large-scale damage, such as large fires in densely populated facilities, wildfires, and urban railway accidents.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to operate evaluations for each institution's training to continuously monitor and improve whether the key points of this year's training are being carried out as planned. After the training concludes, institutions will be selected as excellent, average, or insufficient for the 3rd round, and detailed evaluation results will be notified to each institution.
Lee Han-kyung, Director of the Disaster Safety Management Headquarters, stated, “Through this 3rd Safe Korea Drill, we will further strengthen the practical response capabilities of disaster management responsible agencies such as central government ministries, local governments, and public institutions, as well as the cooperative system of first responders including fire departments, police, and basic local governments.” He added, “We also ask the public to actively show interest and participate in the drills conducted around workplaces, schools, and other nearby locations during the 3rd Safe Korea Drill period.”
