Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) recently announced that it will hold the "Omok Park Busking," allowing people to fully enjoy the deepening autumn, from October 20 to 28 by utilizing the newly renovated central garden of Omok Park.
The district prepared various cultural performances in different genres to widely promote the beauty of Omok Park's central garden and the aerial walkway called "Hoerang," which were newly created through renovation, and to provide healing in daily life. A total of four performances will be held on two Fridays and Saturdays from the 20th to the 28th. On Fridays, performances will be tailored for office workers near the park, and on Saturdays, customized performances will be presented for family visitors.
First, for office workers taking a lunch walk around Omok Park, the "Omok Noon Concert" will be held starting at 12:30 PM. The first event on October 20 will feature ▲ the pop band "Geori-ui Jenny" ▲ the classical performance group "Who’s Art" ▲ and the beatbox band "OTV." On Friday, October 27, audiences can enjoy unique busking performances by ▲ the fusion band "Yesul Noliteo Chorok Yeou," which combines traditional Korean instruments such as gayageum, daegeum, and sogeum with Western instruments like drums and electric guitar ▲ In Music Ensemble ▲ and the folk song group "August Brothers."
For weekends with many family visitors, a "Healing Concert Filled with Autumn" has been prepared. On October 21, four performances will be featured: ▲ jazz by singer and renowned singing saxophonist "Lily Kim" ▲ pop soprano "Son Ji-eun" ▲ flute trio "Neu Ensemble" ▲ and drummer "Seo Jo-eun Drummer."
The final performance on October 28 will be a grand finale with the much-loved "Visiting Small Concert." The "Korea Wind Orchestra," founded in 1992 with the goal of social service through music, will present a high-quality orchestral performance to gift a romantic autumn weekend to the residents.
The district completed the first phase of Omok Park renovation on the 18th of last month and initially opened the "Central Garden," the 3.7-meter-high square-structured aerial walkway "Hoerang," and the "Forest Lounge."
Especially, three resting spaces themed around plants, books, and paintings have been created under Hoerang. The 50.26㎡ "Book Rest Area" houses over 550 books in various fields such as gardening, plants, and art, deepening cultural sensitivity. At the "Painting Rest Area," visitors can see the commemorative artwork "Jukrim (Bamboo Forest)" themed "Revisiting Urban Green Spaces" until next month. The "Plant Rest Area" exhibits various plants such as Manlihyang, Anthurium, and Alibenzamin, along with gardening tools, allowing visitors to rest and reflect surrounded by plants. Additionally, in response to the recent surge in demand and interest in companion plants, a "Companion Plant Counseling Center" is held twice a week (Tuesdays and Fridays from 1 to 5 PM). The district plans to complete installation work next month for the Omok Art Museum, Seoul-style Kids Cafe, Health Lounge, and Infant Forest Rest Area to fully open the park.
Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, "I hope everyone will feel the beauty of the central garden and Hoerang through this busking performance held at Omok Park, which has returned as a resting place for all."
