The President of Egypt has expressed opposition to the plan of forcibly relocating Gaza Strip refugees to Egypt, which borders the Gaza Strip.
On the 18th (local time), Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of Egypt, stated, "If a mass exodus from the Gaza Strip to Egypt becomes a reality, a large influx of refugees could enter Jordan from the West Bank." He added, "Forced relocation of Palestinian residents cannot be carried out." He further said, "If Gaza residents move to Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, the goal of establishing a Palestinian state will disappear," and "Egyptian citizens will also take to the streets to express their opposition. Millions will come out onto the streets."
He also emphasized, "If Israel wants (the forced relocation of Gaza residents), they can relocate them to Israel's Negev Desert and bring them back after the war ends."
Additionally, President El-Sisi criticized Israel, saying that Egypt has never closed the Rafah border crossing to Gaza, and that the border is blocked due to Israeli airstrikes.
