Lotte Chemical Group Hosts 'R&D Conference' Inviting Over 100 Master's and PhD Students

Four Themes: Eco-friendly, Hydrogen, Battery Materials, New Materials
In-house Researchers Deliver Lectures... Interactive Communication

The Lotte Group Chemical Division (Lotte Chemical, Lotte Fine Chemical, Lotte Energy Materials) announced on the 18th that it held the "2nd R&D Conference" by inviting over 100 science and engineering master's and doctoral researchers from major domestic universities at Lotte World Tower in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

The R&D Conference is an event aimed at attracting outstanding R&D talent by sharing the current status and future vision of the Chemical Division's technology and facilitating communication with talented individuals in master's and doctoral programs at major universities. This was the second event following the one held in April. Approximately 100 participants, including business representatives and technical researchers from each company in the Chemical Division as well as master's and doctoral students, attended. This is more than double the scale of the event held in April.

First, Kim Gyo-hyun, Vice Chairman and General Representative of the Lotte Group Chemical Division, delivered a keynote speech on the R&D direction of the Chemical Division and the commitment to securing talent.

In the subsequent R&D session, a total of 12 lectures on four topics (Eco-friendly, Hydrogen, Battery Materials, New Materials) were presented directly by in-house researchers of the Chemical Division. The students could choose and attend the topics they were interested in and preferred.

In the final networking session, a time was provided for free communication with mentor researchers about company life, research fields, careers, and more in a relaxed atmosphere.

Since August last year, Lotte Chemical has been actively operating "Project LINK" (LOTTE Innovation Network), composed of universities, research institutes, companies, and experts. Through open innovation research activities, the plan is to proactively secure future technologies necessary for business and achieve technology expansion.

At this event as well, the interactive communication program that allowed master's and doctoral students to empathize with and understand the future new business technologies of the Lotte Group Chemical Division?whose portfolio has expanded into high value-added specialty businesses, hydrogen energy, battery materials, recycling, and bioplastics as eco-friendly businesses?received great responses from attendees.

Vice Chairman Kim said, "To gain an advantage in the competition for expanding new businesses and securing leading technologies, securing capable and excellent talent is essential," adding, "For future growth, we will continue to discover diverse talents, including domestic and overseas, women, and young talents."

Earlier, in September, the Lotte Group Chemical Division held recruitment briefings at 14 major universities in the United States to secure outstanding talent. To cultivate talent who will lead future businesses, global recruitment activities are conducted annually overseas. Domestically, various activities such as the R&D Conference and expanding industry-academia-research cooperation with major university laboratories are steadily being carried out.
