Actors Lee Soon-jae, Lee Jung-jae, and Jo In-sung will receive the Beautiful Artist Awards this year.
According to the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation on the 18th, the recipients of the 13th Beautiful Artist Awards, to be held on the 24th at Stage28 in Godeok-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, have been selected as Lee Jung-jae (Film Artist Award), Lee Soon-jae (Theater Artist Award), Im Kwon-taek (Lifetime Achievement Artist Award), Jo In-sung (Good People Artist Award), and Kim Seo-hyung (Independent Film Artist Award).

Lee Jung-jae began acting in 1993 and has appeared in over 40 films including Young Man (1994), The Housemaid (2010), The Face Reader (2013), and Assassination (2015). Last year, he won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor for the Netflix series Squid Game (2021). He made his directorial debut with the film Hunt (2022).
Lee Soon-jae debuted in theater with Beyond the Horizon (1956) and has spent his life working as a film, TV drama, and theater actor. This year, he overcame his age of 89 to deliver a passionate 3-hour and 20-minute performance on stage in the play King Lear.
The Lifetime Achievement Artist Award was given to director Im Kwon-taek, who has directed over 100 works including films such as Mandala (1981), The Surrogate Woman (1987), and Seopyeonje (1993). Director Im has received major awards at the Cannes, Venice, and Moscow film festivals.
Jo In-sung was selected as this year’s recipient of the Good People Artist Award, given to celebrities known for their philanthropic work. Having starred in films such as Battle of Ansan (2018), Mogadishu (2021), and Smuggling, he has continued international relief efforts including 12 years of supporting child patients at Seoul Asan Medical Center, sponsoring treatment costs for pediatric rare diseases, and funding the construction of schools in impoverished areas of Tanzania, Africa.
Kim Seo-hyung will receive the Independent Film Artist Award for her role in the film Vinyl House. Starting with If You Were Me (2000), she has appeared in films such as Delicious Sex and Love (2012), Spring (2014), and The Villainess (2017).
The Beautiful Artist Awards were established in 2011, the year the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation was founded. Every year at the end of the year, outstanding artists in the fields of film, theater, lifetime achievement, philanthropy, and independent film are selected and awarded a total prize of 100 million KRW (20 million KRW each) along with a plaque.
