BTS Jungkook Confirmed for Solo Performance at '2023 MTV EMA'

Nominated in 3 Categories: Best Song, Best K-Pop, and Biggest Fan

On the 17th (local time), Europe’s largest music awards ceremony, the ‘2023 MTV Europe Music Awards (Europe Music Awards)’ (hereinafter ‘2023 MTV EMA’), announced that Jungkook was selected as this year’s Performer of the Year.

Jungkook was previously nominated in three categories in the ‘2023 MTV EMA’ list of this year’s award nominees, including ‘Best Song’ for his solo single released in July, ‘Seven’, as well as ‘Best K-pop’ and ‘Biggest Fans’. This is a record for the most nominations for a Korean solo artist.

The ‘MTV EMA’ is an awards ceremony hosted by MTV Networks Europe that honors songs, music videos, and artists who have been representative of the year’s music popular in Europe, and is loved worldwide as a music festival. This year’s ceremony will be held in Paris on the 5th of next month.

This year’s MTV EMA will feature performers including Jungkook, the British singer-songwriter Anne-Marie known for her powerful vocals, six-time EMA winner and famous for ‘Hey Mama’, DJ David Guetta, and Australian rapper The Kid LAROI, who gained worldwide love with ‘Stay’ featuring Justin Bieber, adding to the excitement.

Jungkook will simultaneously release his first solo album, GOLDEN, worldwide on November 3 at 1 PM (Korean time). Inspired by the ‘golden moment’ of solo artist Jungkook, this album includes a total of 11 tracks, including the title track ‘Standing Next to You’.

‘Standing Next to You’ is a retro funk song that highlights Jungkook’s groovy vocals, and through his new song activities, Jungkook is expected to deliver the pinnacle of perfected performance.
